The M80 sound suppressor is made to be mounted around a standard flash suppressor / compensator. With NO modification to weapon, the SAI 'Lock and Twist' mounting system and the SAI patented 'gas seal unit' the suppressor is extremely easy to mount in just seconds on standard M16A2 type bird cage.
It's an all-steel unit type sound suppressor designed for harsh use and continued firing in single shot, burst and sustained fire, on standard army assault rifles and light support weapons - and short barrel carbine rifles cal. 5.56 like H&K 416, Colt M4 Colt Canada/ Diemaco C7 / C8 etc. - using a standard 22mm ‘NATO type’ flash suppressor / compensator. No gasses can escape thru the mounting piece, as the 'gas seal unit' ensures not only perfect alignment and less bullet spread, but also a perfect air-tight mounting option.

The M80 has been fitted with the SAI trombone gas deflection unit with build-in preliminary cyclone gas break action as well as a SAI patented 'gas seal unit', that apart from hindering gas from escaping rearwards thru the flashhider slots, also has the benefit of protecting the bullet from non-symmetric gasses, thereby providing enhanced stability for the bullet in flight inside the suppressor.

The M80 has also been fitted with the new SAI attach module, that allows for mounting the suppressor in just seconds - without using any tools. For safety reasons the quick mounting system has a build in locking spring that must be activated in order to dismount / loosen the suppressor. |

The M80 'Lock & Twist' mount is based around the patented SAI gas seal unit, that effectively blocks gasses from passing thru the mounting piece and thus ensure that all gasses / powder is being sent forward into the suppressor and not in the face of the shooter. The gas seal unit also has very positive effect on the stability of the bullet.

It's a know fact that SOME (not all) A2 type flash hiders are moulded and thus have been made with large tolerances - all though still within the original standards for the A2 type compensators. To accommodate this problem all SAI M80 'Lock & Twist" suppressors can be delivered with a CNC full machined A2 flash hider. SAI A2 flash hider are Tenifer coated to increase the surface wear resistance. The SAI CNC A2 flash hiders are also sold separately. |
The M80 - named after the prototype version for British Army SA80 (SAI model 80) - has been developed in close conjunction with Danish army and with extreme testing of durability etc. So far, the M80 are made in 4 versions optimized for different uses and different end user needs;

The SAI KSS 2+2 has been developed for the Indian army.
The main purpose of this sound suppressor not just to reduce the noise of the AK47, but also to obtain better overall handling of the AK47.
The suppressor has been designed with harsh military use in mind. Thus the length of the suppressor has been reduced somewhat compared to other SAI assault rifle suppressors to minimize risk of damaging the thread of the AK47. Not only does the KSS utilize the best principles of steel baffles - it has also been upgraded with a preliminary diffraction unit (PDU) to ensure better handling of the rifle through much reduced recoil. As an extra benefit the flash hiding effect is immense.
The suppressor is fitted using the existing thread of the Kalashnikov. The SAI KSS 2+2 Kalashnikov Suppressor is designed for use with sub-sonic ammunition for optimal effect, but handles full auto firing with standard full power ammo simply by having a sufficiently large volume first expansion chamber and welded steel construction. Gas port pressure increase is very moderate, but the sound suppressor is designed for reliable feeding cycle with subsonic ammunition. The 2+2 baffle system operates by offsetting muzzle blast with a diffraction cone, and then reflecting the blast as a single wave front backwards in expansion chamber. Blast waves escaping through bullet holes are progressively muffled in expansion chambers between the cup-formed baffles.
