Work on the SAI Carbon Hunter, started from
numerous requests for having a sound suppressor that equals the performance
of our SAI Compact series, but with less weight.

At SAI we began thinking about what measurable goals we wanted to reach and features
that would 'be nice to have' in a possible new product;
|
1. |
Performance should be close to that of the Compact model series. |
|
2. |
The weight should be significantly lower. |
|
3. |
The size should not exceed the Compact. |
|
4. |
Users must be able to upgrade the product. - As SAI continuously develop and improve our suppressor elements, the new suppressor should be prepared for the future, i.e. the costumer being able to gain on performance from our continued development. |
|
5. |
The suppressor should be extremely versatile, being able to cope with different demanding situations, both with regards to civilian use as for police and military |
|
6. |
Serviceability must be a key feature in the design, and the ability for the user to make his own baffle set-up for his particular purpose. |
We ended up with a concept of unequalled modularity and extreme light
weight, taking advantage of new technologies in carbon fibre, high density
aluminium, POM and stainless steel.
Comparison of the standard SAI 'Compact' and the all new SAI 'Carbon
Hunter':
| SAI Compact: | SAI Carbon Hunter: | |
| Weight: Length: Diameter: Material: Modularity: |
660 g 225 mm 50 mm steel none |
375 g 200 mm 50mm carbon fibre, aluminium, POM, rubber, stainless steel Total |
With the SAI Carbon Hunter we belive we have reached these goals !
A unique feature of the new carbon fiber hunting suppressor is the options for the user to alter the suppressor; The 'Carbon Hunter' can be optimized by the user to the preferred set-up for a specific rifle - but still be used in a basic configuration on a different rifle, with a different caliber- or even on rifles with different thread sizes !!
A variety of different add-on kits are available. The different kits will allow the user change the number of baffles in the suppressor, the position of the suppressor on the rifle. It can be extended in both the front and in the back... even the carbon fiber casing is available in a number of different versions.....
With any number of different types of baffles for different calibers - and 4 standard thread options - the Carbon Hunter covers all standard rifles, all hunting situations - in one suppressor.
The Carbon Hunter baffles are available for calibers ranging from cal. .17REM to 9,3mm. The Carbon Hunter is not made for use with magnum calibers. For this we recommend the SAI Compact.
